Today Samsung unveiled what they said is the first 8 GB random access memory (RAM) for portable devices which is comparable to personal computers, The announcement came after the announcement of starting the mass production phase of the first processors with technology of 10 nm.
The company said in a press release that the new class of memory “LPDDR4” will improve the use of big screens UHD which is also known by 4K.
The new portable devices will use 4 units of the new memory of 16 GB each with the 10 nm that saves energy consumption.
Samsung explained that the new 8 gigabytes memory speed is 4.266 megabits per second (Mbps) that is twice the speed offered by DDR 4 which 2.133 megabits per second, and this speed translates to a data transfer rate of more than 34 GB per second.
The company declared last Monday the start of mas production of the 10 processor and will be used in a product next year but they did not reveal what product.
The company explained that although it is going through a very tough time after her failure Galaxy Note 7 which they stopped the production that the new processors are using three-dimensional transistors with added improvements in both processing technology and design compared to previous 14 nm processors providing an increased of up to 30% efficiency, 27% in performance, and 40% less energy consumption.
