Dual-Band VS Tri-Band Routers!

Most of modern wireless routers are already dual-band with 2.4 GHz ans 5 GHz and now big  router companies are launching tri-band routers like the 3 top winners, TP-Link AC5400 and  NETGEAR Nighthawk X6 AC3200 and lastly the 2016 winner Linksys AC5400 . Are they actually provide more speed and more Wi-Fi coverage? The modern 802.11 ac routers already provide faster and less-cluttered 5 GHz spectrum compared to the slower more cluttered 2.4 FHz spectrum.

Normally, you get a dual-band technology routers just to satisfy older devices that only support 2.4 GHz signal why more modern devices will use the faster 5 GHz signal this way.

Now, What’s a Tri-Band Router?

While dual-band routers broadcast two separate signals, tri-band routers broadcast three different signals. Essentially, they’re hosting three different Wi-Fi networks at once  a 2.4 GHz signal and two separate 5 GHz signals.

A dual-band router makes sense for compatibility reasons, but why do you need a separate 5 GHz Wi-Fi signal? Well, because Wi-Fi networks suffer congestion when multiple devices are sharing the same network. So, if you have a smart TV streaming a high-resolution 4K stream from Netflix, that will reduce the Wi-Fi speed available to your other devices.
